ELAI Project Reaches Midpoint: Advancing AI for Vocational Education

The Common Ones is pleased to share the latest progress of the ELAI – Empowering Learning through AI Erasmus+ project, developed in collaboration with partners from Italy, Cyprus and Spain.

The project aims to support vocational education and training (VET) providers in adopting artificial intelligence in a practical, responsible and learner-centred way. Rather than replacing educators, ELAI explores how AI can enhance teaching, critical thinking and the development of future-oriented skills.

Over the first half of the project, the consortium has completed several important milestones. Activity 2 delivered the project’s methodological framework, including guidance for AI-supported learning, trainer resources and self-assessment tools. These resources provide the pedagogical foundation for the next stages of the project.

At The Common Ones, we are leading Activity 3, focused on developing the Toolkit for Green Skills and Social Entrepreneurship. The toolkit has been designed as a practical resource for VET trainers and is organised around two complementary learning tracks:

  • Environmental Track – Life Cycle Thinking (LCT): helping learners analyse the environmental impacts of products, services and processes throughout their lifecycle.
  • Social Track – Theory of Change (ToC): supporting learners in designing and validating initiatives that generate measurable social impact.

Both tracks integrate artificial intelligence as a critical colleague, encouraging participants to question assumptions, identify blind spots and strengthen their reasoning rather than relying on AI to generate answers.

The project is now entering an important implementation phase. During the coming months, partners will pilot the toolkit in their respective countries, collect feedback from trainers and learners, and use these insights to refine the final version of the resources.

In parallel, the consortium is progressing with Activity 4, which focuses on AI-supported tools for international mobility, and Activity 5, dedicated to dissemination and impact evaluation to ensure the project’s results reach VET organisations across Europe.

We are proud to contribute to a project that combines digital innovation with sustainability and social impact, helping educators prepare learners for the challenges of the green and digital transitions.

We look forward to sharing the results of the pilot phase and the final toolkit later this year.
